The Interactive Filmmaker's Manifesto

Saturday 26th November 2011, 2 – 4 pm

David Garrick Studio, RADA, (London WC1E)

The internet is a great method of distribution - for uploading, commenting, linking etc - and most film put up online takes advantage of this. But the defining feature of internet content is that unlike linear media such as books, regular TV and movies, it's interactive – and almost all film online is still just linear – click [Play] and you could be watching TV. With hiccups.

But things are starting to change. A new breed of online film is emerging….

Martin Percy leads the last Directors Guild seminar of 2011 with a quick outline of what's happening in interactive and personalised film. We'll see clips from award-winning work from all over the world, and see how these pieces relate to each other - leading to a manifesto on how to keep moving this new medium forward.

Martin is a long-standing director of interactive film. He has won a Webby, 3 Emmy nominations and 2 BAFTA Award nominations. His work has won 8 Webby nominations and 11 Webby honorees. He has created interactive video pieces for the Tate Gallery, Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, British Film Institute and National Theatre, working with people including Ian McKellen, Derek Jacobi, Gordon Ramsay, Julie Walters, Tracey Emin, Jonathan Ross and Malcolm McDowell.
